Registration FAQ
How many transactions are required to register a .evm name?
A successful registration needs two transactions (commit and reveal) to register a name.
How long does it take to register a name?
It takes less than 1 minutes to register a name, including a 15-second delay between the first and second transactions to prevent front-running.
What does it cost to register a .evm domain?
At present, registration costs are established at the following rates:
For 5 & 5+ character .evm names: $1 in EOS for each year.
For 4 character .evm names: $5 in EOS for each year.
For 3 character .evm names: $15 in EOS for each year.
For 2 character .evm names: $100 in EOS for each year.
For 1 character .evm names: $300 in EOS for each year.
All registration payments will be processed using the $EOS token. The annual renewal fee for all names remains the same as the initial registration fee. It's important to note that EOS blockchain generates necessary handling fees during the registration process.
Once I own a name, can I create my own subdomains?
Yes. You can create whatever subdomains you wish and assign ownership of them to other people if you desire. You can even set up your own registrar for your domain.
However, the subdomain feature are not yet released, stay tuned to us and we will provide in the future.
Do we need to do anything to ensure the continued use of existing EVMNS names?
Make sure you renew your .evm names before they expire! You can add registration years to any name at any time, and for any duration you'd like.
How do renewals work?
Anyone can add registration years to any existing name by paying the required fee, at any time.
There is no maximum limitation of the renewal duration.
What happens if I forget to extend the registration of a name?
Following the expiration of your name, a 90-day grace period ensues during which the owner is unable to make edits to the records. However, they retain the option to re-register the name. Once this grace period concludes, the name becomes available for registration by any interested party. This registration requires a temporary premium, which decreases over the course of 21 days.
Throughout this period, the released name continues to resolve to your EOS EVM address until the new owner overwrites it with their information.
Can someone grab my domains at the end of my subscription period?
You can renew your name at any time during the period you own it. Making sure you renew before the name expires will prevent someone else from registering the name.
There is also a "grace period" of 90 days after your name expires. You can renew the name to retain ownership of it during the grace period.
How much will the yearly renewals cost?
The annual renewal fee for all names remains the same as the initial registration fee for each year. You can extend your names by any duration.
What happens to the renewal fees? Do I get them back?
Rather than being locked and held, as in the original interim registrar, renewal fees in the permanent registrar are spent. You will not get them back.
